FL sizing die notpushing sholders back far enough

Send the die back to LEE and tell them what the problem is. They'll fix it. :)

Yep, just called them, they told me to send die in (die is 30 years old) with a case from that rifle, they will modify the die to give me 3 thou of space, free, they are a good company, always have been.

There are some great companies in this country. If you give them the opportunity to hear about your problems, most will go the extra mile to solve them, some for free, regardless of equipment age. I highly recommend manufacturers as the very first point-of-contact whenever a problem arises.

There are a lot of very helpful and knowledgeable individuals on these forums, but no one is more knowledgeable about a product than the company that spent thousands of dollars designing, engineering, tooling up, manufacturing, and QCing it.

Once you get the co-ax you will likely find that the dies work, without a bunch of cutting, grinding, slicing, etc etc.

Does the Forster Coax have some mythical ability to push the die past the top of the shellholder?

$100 press or $350 press, when the die is firmly pressed against the top of the shellholder with a case in it, that's all you get. If the die isn't made to the proper dimension then no more money spent on a press will change that.

The Co-Ax does not use shell holders. So although not mythical, the dimensions may be different enough that the die may work just fine in the Co-Ax.

This is precisely why i am going to be investing in a co-ax for home use... As if the mythical abilities were'nt enough , i like the suction sound it makes when the primer seater comes off the stump..... And it's red... This in itself should seal the deal for anyone who has a thing for red but can't stand hornady

No "shell holders"? Well maybe not in the traditional sense but what about the "jaws"?

It uses jaws. My point was that there may be enough of a difference between the jaw height and the traditional shell holder height that his die might work with the Co-Ax.

We live in a plus and minus manufacturing world, I have a Lee .223 full length die with the opposite problem. If the die contacts the shell holder the case will be .009 shorter than the GO gauge, meaning approximately .011 shoulder bump.

The simplest and fastest thing to do is lap the shell holder and not argue about "mythical"presses and what "might" happen.

Lap the shell holder and "make" it happen. ;)

I had an out of spec Lee shellholder. It happens. Drove me mad until I figured it out.

I had purchased a RCBS Summit press and thought it to be too sloppy. I substituted a RCBS shell holder and my issues went away.

HTH.

I kind of like it when a die does this. I adjust the die down as tight as necessary to remove all "slop" from the press. I then size a case that has an enlarged primer pocket and just hasn't made it into the scrap bin yet. Measuring the case, which now has a short headspace measurement, I then select a Redding Competition shell holder with the right amount of "+" to give me the exact "bump" I'm looking for. This results in "Dead Length Case Sizing" where there is no "slop" anywhere in the setup to allow for any variation other than spring-back from uneven brass. I take care of that with annealing.
