Forster .308 FL sizing die

If your new brass is .005 shorter than your chamber, than I might be on to something. Is this for hunting or comp? If for comp, I would plan to sort cases.

I should have said happy 5th. Man I'm tired.

I look forward to reading the replies later this evening.

300 RUM - do you remember the recent discussion regarding the use of the Redding Competition Shell Holders and how it fixed my headspace problem? I think you are having the same problem.

A little bit can you recap it?

Never had either problem with my Forster .308 FL die. Because I have a liquid based tumbler (Thumler Model "B") I can thoroughly coat the outside and inside neck of my cases with Hornady one-shot case lube. I FL resize with a .3090 oversized ball. After all other case prep, I tumble and dry completely followed by a neck size.

I use Lapua brass exclusively. My rifle shoots pretty tight groups.

My guess is...

1) Inconsistent cases
2) The ball coming back out of the case

...like others have suggested.

I talked with the folks at Forster today and was told to send it in to get the neck honed larger because I am using Lapua brass, and if not to make sure I lub the hell out of the case and necks. Any way went to the range to see the difference that multi head spaced cases can make. Well to my surprise not much, I used cases head spaced from 1.616 to 1.620 ( see attachment photo)

Hey, nice shooting. Nothing wrong with that.

I'd like to see if there velocity difference in the roomy headspace brass as compared to tight brass.

I bet there are, but at 200 yards they wouldn't show up, i sorted all the brass today by the .001, what a bitch! LOL
