Fixed scope for 223 at 100-600 yards

What would be a good fixed scope for a 223 at 100-600 yards.

I have a mueller 8.5x25 and its pretty nice, although its not holding zero, so now I am thinking I might just go for a fixed scope in the 30x-45x range.

I also have a Nikon buckmaster, but the crosshair image moves around too much with head motion, and I dont like that at all.

Everybody is out of stock on the Weaver T36 and sightron 36x scope. Could go for one of the leupolds, 35x,40x,45xbut they are pricey.

If I decide to build a 1000 yard gun, I will probably set it up with a Nightforce 12-42x

Any ideas ??

I will be going the same route.

Of note, previous two years of prairie doggin', I noticed that I usually had my variable scope set on 12x or 14x - all the way to a 557 yard kill.

Over the past couple of months, I scrounged on the web, three Leupy's - 12X, 16X, & 20X. One for 204 Ruger, 223, and the 20X for the 243,I have not bought this rifle yet!).

36X will be a bit much at 100 yards.

i shoot a fix 45 power here in texas and i love it. In the summer the heat is a little trouble.I know im going to get hammered on this but it is better than the 3 nightforces i currently have. The reason i beleave this is because they wont shoot as good with them. My scores have wint way up sense i changed FROM nf

Interesting. I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought a Leupold 45x thinking it would be nice for 300 yds > 1000 yds.

I plan to eventually set up a 6mmx47 lapua, so that should be perfect for that rifle.

I am sending back a Nikon Buckmaster with parallax problems and a Meuller that wont hold zero. I figured I was just better off with a top of the line "buy it once" fixed scope, else I could go through 3-4 other $300 scopes lookng for one that works.

I do plan on selling both of the Nikon and Meuller after repair and buying Leupold variable for hunting and as a backup.

I use a fixed 12x scope for NRA prone shooting at 600 yards. No complaints. When I drop a point, it's my fault, not a problem with the scope...
