First time reloading question, is my round too hot.

Maybe consider a RCBS Chargemaster powder dispenser and on the dumper try to refine your consistency while operating the handle.

No bueno with some pistol powders because the high Nitro content ( I assume ) starts to eat at the plastic when left in the dispenser for too long. But no problems in my XL-650 dispenser.

RCBS recommends not leaving powder in the hopper, Bullseye did a job once on my C-H Progressive hopper years ago.

Longshot is an easy powder to work with in my limited experience. A 0.5 grain variance between powder charges with ANY powder is way too high, but especially with Longshot! Something is wrong with either the OP's equipment or technique of throwing powder charges. I would suggest that the OP seek some assistance from an experienced, competent reloader before he damages his gun(s) and/or loses some fingers.

The hoppers for my Dillon are always full and the only time I empty the powder is if I'm changing to a different powder, which is not very often.

I've had Titegroup in a hopper for a while, probably more than 1 year. And Win-748 in another Dillon measure for 2+ years. Once the powder level goes down to 60 % I refill to the top.

The Dillon powder measure/hoppers have yet to show any signs of powder reaction. I'm not surprised since Dillon is at the top of the progressive reloading heap.
