First time neck turning 6ppc

I use the same tool. A little 000 steel wool or scotchbright will even out the shoulder lip. If you back off just a little when you feel it hit the shoulder, the step will be softer unless you are taking a lot off the brass, then it's hard to not get a step that big. It's no big deal though, looks good.

Years ago I was told that turning down onto the shoulder slightly will reduce the odds of getting a donut.
Seemed to work out but, as mentioned above, I didn't go down that far on the shoulder.
May I ask what your target thickness was for the neck? Turning for a .262 neck?

After I do my initial cut, I go over it again for what I call the " fuzz cut ". It cleans up those little lines left behind from the tool pressure spring back. Bring the tool back out slowly. Then a little steel wool, on the case mouth as well while it is still turning in the Benchrite Case Lathe. I like seeing the tool work, that's why I use mostly PMA and not the Pumpkin anymore.....I AM a little OCD...LOL...I actually like neck turning.

Regards
Rick

Recently turned for a .262 neck and went to .0085 x 2 + .243 = .260 loaded neck diameter.

Always check the bullets actual diameter (pressure ring) . Most bullets are not 243 or 308. I've seen 6mm bullets measure 2428 to 2443 on different brands/ lots of bullets. Best to check with a loaded dummy round as mentioned earlier. Looks pretty good to me maybe just a bit further then I usually turn into should but it will be fine.

This ... and I always check the final loaded dummy's neck diameter with a micrometer, not a set of calipers.

This^^^^^

Also, what the reamer cuts may be different than what the print says.

When you have a nice sine wave on your neck after a couple firings, you have arrived.
