First shot accuracy

Well if your a hunter, it's important to test and know what the 1st shot means for you.
Know your true capabilities.

As far as leaving oil in the bore; I don't see any reason to do so. I don't see any good in it (only bad).
 
I always foul the bore before hunting or target shooting, it only makes sense. As far as a light coating of oil in the bore; I printed this off of the Savage Arms website under FAQ.
Q. Although there may be different schools of thought on barrel break-in, this is what Precision Shooting Magazine recommends.
I will forego the cleaning recommendations, but will enter the last paragraph.

They recommend the use of a patch with 2 drops of oil after the cleaning so that you are not shooting with a dry bore. It is also advisable to use a powder solvent and copper solvent from the same manufacturer to be sure they are chemically compatible.

You mean like the day the shooter next to me fired his first round and it created a three foot in diameter cloud of white smoke with a loud "Boom"?
