Yes that is an excellent idea and I do this. only had one color to work with that day. Next time I will take a green and red one along with the blue.

Thank you guys.
I will do a seating test soon at 400yards or more. I do have the range. Just didn't want to walk that extra 100 yards the 7 times it took me running out there to mark my bullets and put the paper back on. It was really windy. ...

I sometimes use a target like this, one shot at each aiming point, then advance and mark it up. I can see the holes as I shoot, so I'm fairly sure they don't cross over.

Once I'm home, I graph the verticals in Excel.

Me too. But I do like to check each shot one-by- one… not sure I can tell you why, I'll have to think about it, lol!!

I personally go to the range with a blank poster board and a 2 ft level. Once There I Put A Perfectly Level Horizontal Cross hair With A Vertical aiming refrence through it For Each Load I made. This way I can shoot 3-5 shot groups with each load. This way i can use the average vertical impacts not just a single. All to often results are set in stone based off insufficient input. At least that's what I see.

Nope. I honestly did not have a clue about how to enterpet the ladder test when I posted it. They all looked sorta the same to me until other members pointed out the things to look for.

bow shot: I will def take my shots seriously. Probably shoot a smaller dot sized target to. I am still working on getting my shooting form down. Thanks for the helpful advice. Now that you guys mention it the 53.9 does look the best and MV is most consistent there. I will have to take my bike to the range next time. All that walking (running to) back and forth wore me out today.

A video camera, phone with video, or GoPro camera would be useful. Just make sure you have good battery life.

I guess we really are stupid in the south.... I shoot at 500 and shoot 2 shots of every load in .2 increments.... Then I just search for a node, shoot a couple of groups at 300 in different conditions, and hope I still like the load that I originally liked at 100 that got the whole ladder test train rolling.

Maybe mine just look different because they are more dispersed.

Anyway then I just shoot that load at 300 in lands off lands and on lands and try to pick me a winner.... I don't ever chop down a .2 to a .1.... Am I missing something? I see the spread is low between his .8 and .0 so are y'all looking for a low ES as well?

I'm just a coyote hunter looking for a load that I don't have to hand weigh each charge that is still likely to hit a 6" sweet spot at the specified distance.

I didn't know what I was doing had a name, lol
