I tightened the crap out of the 4 bolts under the headstock, that attach the lathe to the cabinets and the 2 under the tail stock. I don’t think it is a level thing, because I leveled it. Think the headstock needs slightly adjusted. From the factory, it was .007 in 12” before I adjusted it. Got it under .0005 yesterday, but adjusted other things on the lathe and it ended up just over .001 in 12” now.

What did you level it with? A 36" level from Home Depot and a Machinist's Level are 2 ENTIRLY different devices.

I had a 18” piece of 1.5” aluminum. Put it in the 3 jaw and cut a chunk out of the tail end and a chunk out of the chuck end.

Unsupported or a live center supporting in tailstock? You need a machinist level to get the bed level. Headstock...more to it than making a cut. If you are getting a taper along the long bar and it's supported...just align the tailstock. If it's unsupported...tool deflection for sure if you have it sticking out 12"

Unsupported. Read an old south bend manual that showed how to level without a machinist level. That is why I did test cuts for now. I’ll try to borrow one in the future.

I used a carpenter level and had the bubble barely touch the line, then measured the distance between the line and bubble with a gap gauge.
(I might be stretching the truth here)

You don't own one now!? How could you expect to set any machine tool without the proper level. The 'test cuts' will work, but it is painfully obvious that you do not have the patience to level with that method in your haste to chamber and "build rifles".

Ab, I watched that last week. Also, any other leveling video I could find on YouTube.
Dusty, I ordered 2 just in case. Thanks
I figure if south bend says you can level without a machinist level, it will work for now since I’m doing 1” surfaces
