We tried dealing with Adam, but it did not work out and commercial bullet makers will not sell ballistic tips. Tipping an open meplat is tricky. Crimping the tip is not easy. I use a tiny drop of super glue and make sure tip is secure...loose tips cause flyers. My volume is small, so pulling tips is ok.

Another new experience hunting ghogs. Our temps get hot by 1 PM, so I went early. I parked on a hill overlooking fields and barn and outbuildings. I immediately noticed two ghogs chasing each other and wrestling. They were 180 yards away and as I got my trusty 222 modified ready, they ran toward my location and went under an old trailer. Out they came rolling over each other again. I had the dot on them trying to decide which one to take wondering if i could get both, then they parted. I shot the distant one assuming #2 would vanish, but he froze and I was already reloading my single shot Stiller...BOOM, SPLAT...6 sec at most had elapsed. 107 yards and the 52 gr custom tipped bullet at 3500 fps rendered them motionless...no tail salute. Hit both at base of their necks so bullet passed into chest down their body and not a drop of blood as i suspect heart/lungs were liquified...i love terminal ballistics.

What a day! Our temp hits 88° by 1:00, so you got to go early. I set up in the shade overlooking a small valley like area with lush grass and ghogs. A female and her son poke their head up and promptly get Snerted with 65 gr custom tipped bullets from my 14 tw 6 BR(these are posted on the "snerting" thread. There are old trees on this property and they have ghog dens at their base, so I'm glassing one when a ghog pops out and sits on a root. I send him a 65 gr custom tipped bullet from my 14 tw 6 BR... WHACKKK! I don't see his body. Another gets on the same root...he gets a 52 gr custom tipped pill from my modified 222...WHACKKK! I don't see his body either...I can't be missing as I heard a good whack. #3 does the same and this time...WHACKKK and body on the ground. #4 decides to venture into the open a bit and he gets his at base of neck...down the torso. 6 ghogs before 10:30! The 4 were all males and this years crop, so mom and dad are still there...I'll be back.
