First 6BR

Good day,

I come from Netherlands and I'm going to start shooting next year with a 6BR.
Now my costum rifle built in Ireland at Gunstock Ireland by Enda Walsh.

The action is a BAT 3LL
Barrel is a Bartlein Straight Heavy Taper 1250 'to 1000' R5 barrel twist Neck size 0.272 throated 8 for 105 gr bullet
Jewell BR trigger
Glass and Pillar bedded, tested stress free

The intention is to competition shoot at 100 and 300 m

I'm looking for good accuracy

Well my next questions are

- What is the exact step by step for your uniform Lapua brass
- Which bullet is wise to start shooting and I will jam or jump off the land and how match
- Which Vihtavuori is good for this rifle

Thank you

Greetings Adriaan

Re: First BR6

Suggest you read the 6BR cartridge guide in the accurateshooter.com Website. It will give you a good start. In addition there are several good articles on case preparation. Next start gathering the reloading equipment you will need. You are in Europe so I don't know what brands or types are available. Start attending matches, Join a club or association and interacting with other shooters. Volunteer to start helping at the events. You will learn a great deal.

In terms of bullets you will have to try the different brands. Personally I have found Sierra 107Gr Matchkings to be the most accurate so far in my rifle so far. Your experience may vary. Berger or Lapua bullets are also good candidates to try. Same with Powder selection. I have found Varget to be the best in my rifle. Good luck in your venture. You certainly are starting off with very good equipment.

You did not mention an optical scope. Expect to spend a lot for a good one. Good luck with your venture

choose Vihtavuori powders here: http://www.vihtavuori.com/en/reloading-data/rifle-reloading/6mm-br-norma.html
N140 is marked for Accuracy load (105Gr Scenar SJ pill) so start with that :)

Well my next questions are

- What is the exact step by step for your uniform Lapua brass>>>I use mandrels to get neck tension right and shoot it. Use FL sizing die with neck bushings to resize the brass.
- Which bullet is wise to start shooting and I will jam or jump off the land and how match.>>>I find Berger VLDs or HYBs to be the best ( both 105gr)
- Which Vihtavuori is good for this rifle>>>I haven't tested alot of VV and find RL15 to be better than Varget. Those powders may be easier to find than the Viht here in the states.

^^^^^ What NoLoad said above is excellent advice. However, as far as VV powders are concerned. The 2 that in my opinion are the best are VV N540 and N150 (not necessarily in that order).. They BOTH will make your rifle sing a nice tune!

Great rifle,I understand Enda is supposed to be one of the great builders, welcome to the forum. Tom P.S. I agree with Strut64.

Thanks for the comment's

I shoot for 3 years with a 308 and am even 2 years reloading.

To recharge, I have all my stuff including competition dies from Redding.

My scope is a Night Force NSX 5x32 - 56 with a reticle moart t 1/8 moa.
(To strut64)

Use FL sizing which with neck bushings to resize the brass. Will you do that for every time you've shot. Or only once and then only neck bushing? (To NOLOAD)

Uniform you also flash holes of brass, or do you do anything about it.

And when you trim the brass at length. If he is more than 1,555.

I've been quite a while reading about 6BR but you read so many different things. And I'd like to do it perfectly. But I think everybody wants that.

Greetings Adriaan ...
