First 6br almost complete!

Bought a 6br R700 with a CBI remage barrel from a forum member last year. Picked up a beater 40xbr stock for super cheap from another member that needs paint and bondo. Next was the bolt knob which I did with a grinder and a die, picked up a scope base on ebay, too. Scored a nice Sightron SII 36x42 and mounted it some Burris z-rings. Shilen reworked the old trigger for me, too. Had some pillars made, drilled the stock and bedded it. Just got it assembled today after about a year and other than needing to paint the stock, its complete! Oh, I also got a package deal of dies and brass from a member here, too! All in, I have $1,059 in this build, including buying the paint.

Hoping to do a test ladder this week with it.

Here is the ugly before I paint it...

Redneck custom, watch it shoot!

What is your twist rate and throat dimensions in relation to the amount of freebore?
1:8 twist, .272 (no-turn) neck, .094" free bore.

I have some 107smk I plan to shoot in this thing, but I got them before Sierra went AWOL from the market. I have about 4lbs of Varget and a little bit of N140 as well. I will post target pics once I get to shoot it.

So here is the ladder I have loaded up. Thinking I may be able to drop a few of the lower charges and save components. What do you think? I have 3 of each charge loaded up, plus 6 sighters, total 36 rounds.

Well........ Watch it with those 29 grain sighters. 2 of my 6br’s max out below 30 with a 105.
You might wind up using the 28.4s to dial in your scope.
Take a cleaning rod with you in case you have to knock out a stuck case from the 29!
How many rounds on the barrel?

I could always use the first 3 to zero in. A buddy gave me this lot of Varget and he was shooting 29.3 with it. I will use caution, of course. Hoping to end up around 2800. Less than 700 rounds on the barrel, was told only 2-300, which I always double when buying a used barrel.

Got out last night after work to shoot it. I was looking primarily at velocity so I had the magnetospeed on the entire time, so I'm not too concerned with groups yet.

My ladder was new lapua brass, 107smk, rem 7-1/2, and varget. Bullets were seated jammed to "square marks" from rifling.

Zero pressure issues all the way up the ladder to 30.2, primers still look good, no swipes on case head, bolt lift and primary extraction was easy as can be, too.

Here's my velocities and averages. I'm going to load up 30.0gr which seemed to be about the middle of a decent node.

Reminds me of my rifle. But a 14 twist for GH. I would like to see the groups. I do the opposite I don't care what the fps is I just want small groups with good speed, not the most I can get away with. Don't believe in finding accuracy by looking at fps. Don't believe in flat spots in velocity. Looks like you want to push the limits by putting the most powder in the case you can get away with.
