Firing pin issues on Howa mod.1500

Hi gentlemen
My young cousin(21 y o)was offered 6 months ago,a Howa .270 mod 1500 for his graduation(aren't kids kind of spoiled of late?)by his parents, and was(good on him),very happy with it...I wish my parents had done the same when I graduated...Anyway,he used the rifle(what did you expect?),shot a few deers(3 at least if I remember right),but got a bit itchy about the rig not being as accurate as he would like it,and sought help from a friend who took them(rifle and pal)to the stand to set things out proper;after 3 shots, the rifle refused to shoot????Primers weren't hammered hard enough to ignite the whole stuff inside the case(Hornady 130gr .270).Anyone around here ever experimented such a bad case of bad will from his Howa, and what was the cause for it,and what was the cure?I'd really appreciate any help from anyone with same issue with same rifle,so thanks in advance for your good will.

It's a huge generalization to declare the issue as a Howa problem.
Have you looked into the actual problem at all?

Howa actions and bolts are high quality, according to your post it didn't stop shooting until an unqualified person started changing things.. the fault is his and not Howa.

the only thing needed to make Howa 1500 shoot .2" groups is to put a match barrel on the action, the action it self is CNC made and extreamely well built, similar to Stiller Predator action.

so change everything back to the way it was, but this time let a qualified gun smith do the job !

Hi gentlemen

I have the impression that I haven't made myself clear,I never said anybody changed anything in this rifle,it was just taken to the stand after being owned 6 months and shot maybe 50 or 60 rounds,to try and zero it a bit better, better than its owner(my young cousin)thought it was.In the process of shooting strings to do so,after 3 or 4 shots, the rifle stopped shooting ,without anyone doing anything special to the bolt except loading the rifle and trying to shoot it.I never meant any bad talk on Howa,I'm glad to hear that their bolts are so well made and dependable, but what I know for sure,is that this one doesn't hammer the primers hard enough to fire them, period!!We have no idea why, that is why the rifle was returned to the seller's and also why I decided I'd ask you gentlemen that might have had a similar issue with one of these otherwise apparently excellent rifles. Thanks in advance for your answers and help.

if nothing was changed then take the bolt apart and put all the components in an ultrasonic cleaner, run it a few times, rinse, lubricate with teflon spray and put it back together.

clean the gun properly, factory barrels copperfoul pretty badly so your point of impact will shift, and even more if you shoot it hot.. no more than 3 shots in 10 minutes.

reminds me to do the same to my Howa bolt.. hasn't been cleaned the past 1000 shots....
