howa 1500 weak firing pin

Hi gentlemen
Any of you ever experimented a Howa mod 1500 with a firing pin that is too weak to ignite the primer(Hornady 270 130g)?The rifle is new,6 months, with only about 100 rounds down the tube, and the pin got weak in the process of firing strings at the stand, the bolt worked, but the pin only left small marks on the primers after 4 or 5 shots..Any help appreciated, thanks in advance. Claude

sounds like you got carbon fouling in the bolt, take it apart and put in ultrasonic cleaner, rinse and wipe it well, lubricate with Teflon spray and put it back together.

that should solve your problem.

you probably didn't do that when the gun was new, the grease Howa uses is more for rust protection than lubrication.. it really needs to be cleaned and re lubricated before first use :)
