The only question I have ever been asked at the Post Office is, if it contains hazardous material or is it fragile. I admit, I have never shipped a firearm except to send one back to a manufacturer for repair with an RMA, Via UPS. Don't ask , don't tell.

is a thing of the past. I found this out when I priced my rifle collection for sale at a shipped price. The price of living has really gone up. LDS

Not necessarily true....depending on how.
The absolute closest to bullet proof as well as very reasonable is to ship USPS registered/insured.
Usually with a gun of any value insurance is a killer, the method above has very reasonable insurance rates because every single human that touches it must sign for it, resulting in extremely low loss rates.
The only PIA with this method is the box must be covered in brown paper & brown packing tape.
It is a primary method among big time dealers shipping 5-6 figure guns.

After reading thru this thread, I’ve decided NOT to sell. My wife wants me to, but it sounds like it’s just too expensive! Oh well!

i honestly think the whole FFL thing is a total waste of time, it is the same registration IMO, it can be used to know your house and the details of the firearm. buying firearms shouldn't necessary have to go through FFL.
