Firearms Related CC Purchase Cancelled

Capital One is a woke anti 2A commie run company and I use this particular MC credit card for gun related purchases only just to stick it to them, the balance is paid off every billing cycle to avoid any interest charges so they do not make any $$ directly of of me, never had an issue yet

CapOne is very very good at catching fraud. They have caught a few on me over the years. It's a PITA when they freeze the card but they reverse the charges and they got me a new card in a day or two. I have had a couple of denials presumably on 'false positives'. Now they text the card owner immediately to verify identity. Fraud is an enormous problem. I hadn't thought about vendor fraud. Not sure how long one could get away with that.

Also, CapOne is buying Discover.

It might be CapOne. It might not be.
The CEO of Bank of America on a CNBC interview a few weeks ago delicately hinted that 2 prior administrations had muscled banks to "de-bank" political opponents and 2A commercial operations.

Recall there was an effort to add a "firearms-related" category to the existing credit card charge categorization. I think that was fought back but not sure but the filters are likely still there in the computer systems for AML (anti-money laundering). Now expanded to politically incorrect activity at government direction.

Cabelas uses Cap One. After 2 hacks (that card only) and a similar issue to op I cancelled it.
I got rid of my Cabelas Cap One so I would never be forced to buy anything again from Cabelas-Bass Pro becuase I had accumulated using their points.

I just got an email from CapOne telling me that they blocked the purchase from this company. No reason why. I also got two emails from the vendor that my order was received and is in process. I’ll be calling them tomorrow morning and will report back…maybe we’ll find out why this happened. Stay tuned kids.

B of A jerked me around once too often. After 35 years of loyalty, I dropped them like a HOT ROCK!!
To me, Wells Fargo was the WORST!!
After a little digging, found out THEY had opened a FEW checking accounts for my sister that SHE didn't know about.
Mentioned THAT FACT to one of the folks at the bank and they closed the accounts PDQ!!
Had one of the ladies at the bank ask me to open a CC account.
I said No Thank You and she actually got pissed!! Guess folks get POINTS for opening new accounts??
Tried to move $$$$ to pay sisters bills and got the double shuffle.
Oh, we're NOT servicing that account anymore. WTH???? Was supposed to call another bank in Minnesota???
DID make a call but it was to MY BANK. Told them to transfer HER accounts and get me some $$$. Got a call the next day. Account transferred and we've got $$$ for you. Come and get it.
Not a big deal but, I wonder what happened when they see that $130K got pulled out of their bank. My guess? Somebody had a hard time sitting down for a couple of days. Guess $130K is chump change??

I use a Bank in Montana for our cards, I’ve never had any issues spoken of here. When I ship stuff, my gal at the post office is also a gun nut so we chat about reloading and hunting etc.
Interesting that our nightly news is partly sponsored by an ammunition company.

You’ll never see that in liberal states..

I stopped buying from Midway as well. The problem was I refused to set up an account with them and the 'guest' checkout would not let me check out. I tried with them several times over a 6 month period. Complained by email and they said it must be my browser. I stopped shopping there.s

I have a MC debit card from my bank (that we NEVER use online) and an AMEX card. Have had an AMEX account for over 50 years and never had an issue with them, even when I have used it out of the country. They have caught many fraud attempts over the years and automatically issued new cards, some delivered with next day service. One was delivered to the hotel we were staying at. I asked the agent if they wanted the address and the reply was, "no, I have your reservation information from the card transaction."

If you don't want someone watching your every move, don't get an AMEX card :) I kinda like that they have had my back.

I purchase the majority of my loading and equipment online using one of two credit cards. I have perfect credit and a large line of credit, no issues there.

Today, I attempted to purchase a rifle stock online and my Capital One credit card was denied, which threw me for a loop. A second try after checking spelling, address, etc. was also denied.

I received an email from the company asking me to use another payment option, sure enough another credit card was immediately successful and the order was placed.

I contacted CapOne and got the run around on whether they denied the transaction since it was firearm related. Asked for a simple yes or no and got a word salad.

So, maybe I’m behind on this issue, but are these transactions being denied? I’ve never had a problem with components, powder, etc.

I will check with the vendor and if this is the case they (CapOne) lost a very good customer. It won’t be in my wallet any longer.
They have a long and sordid history of exactly the liberal scheming you described. It happened to me once. Consider doing what I did....drop the card like a hot rock, and send a certified letter to the head of Customer Relations detailing the reasons for cancelling the card.
I am sure it didn't make any difference, but it felt good.

l used to be a Cabelas member, but Cancelled when CapNone took over card services. l still use Cabelas because they are virtually the ONLY place that sells powder and primers in Augusta Ga:(

I always wondered why CapOne seemed to have the biggest advertising budget of all the CC companies. It is becoming obvious. They need new members cause their older ones are cutting up their cards. :)

Ok, I spoke to the Gun Stock company and they indicated that they no idea why CapOne would deny a transaction.

Yesterday, I got an email from CapOne indicating that they did indeed block the purchase and if I now wanted to approve it and allow it to go through, I had to “click” this button and all would be good.
Also, I got another email from them where they wanted to know if I was happy with my recent transaction…really?

So, I don’t know why and they won’t tell me why they denied the purchase. I could have been an AI thingy that screwed up. That’s all I know at this point.

Fortunately I haven't had any credit card problems but I'm getting real tired of being treated like a criminal at B of A. Every time you go in to pay an MC bill with cash you have to show identification. Finally had enough and pressed a teller for an explanation and was told it's due to money laundering, "we need to know who's giving us money". Another bank I deal with has all the info they need on their computer screen as soon as they input my name or account number. Never asked for identification whether I'm taking money out or putting it in. Guess which bank I do most of my business with. Evidently B of A can't afford the same or a similar software program which would eliminate all the BS and actually make it easier for both the teller and customer to transact business.

Capital one is that way , Bank of America tied up Kelly McMillan's money 12 or so years ago.......a lot of them are getting government pressure

That is an approach, but for my adult life I’ve tended toward putting a relatively huge amount of gun supply purchases on Discover (first non-parental card) with almost no “necessities” constituting my customer profile.

I had no idea Discover had been bought, but this is a perfectly legitimate way to pressure companies to deal with each other. The smaller component that arms and ammo become to them, the easier it would be to write off the segment. Since you can’t normally put an entire car on on a credit card, your gun related stuff is your biggest expenditure (because you’re here after all) so get that money infused into their corporate DNA with a smile, just like the vaccine that was pushed on everyone, did :).

I’m not giving up Discover, - the first thing that pops onto a rep’s screen is a 1992 member date and their unsolicited 824 fico followed by good service. They dispensed currency in Italy to me from a lone ATM they weren’t pictured on, when not AMEX, nor any other card would, when I had not even set up a pin. My ilk is here to stay, and will rub the “warts” of faddish, woke exclusionary practices off their now and then slippery palms, in the language they speak, money.

We need to mainstream these venders and our interests. Our purchases as the responsible spear tip of recreational shooting are absolutely legal, legitimate, and almost always without any negative consequence, whatsoever. Water drip these credit card companies into submission.

As an online retailer, our website has been targeted by scammers and bots. It can be difficult to detect, because the order looks legit most of the time, but I'd have to go directly into our CC processing and can see multiple attempts under the same name and up to dozens of different card numbers. This forces us as a vendor to apply stricter verifications that may trigger some card issuers own fraud filters, especially a "velocity filter". The way it works is if too many attempts back to back to back are incorrect, then it finally is input correctly, it will look like it went through but flags it for review, which normally gets auto-denied. Other times, cards used at a new to you website will trigger a fraud filter.

Not saying that political gaming isn't real, but these are some issues I see commonly.

The banks are doing all kinds of things to protect them selves from dealing with any transactions to do with money and possible illegal activities. When firearms are concerned they get nervous. Or when the money has no trail. There is a lot of sketchy thinks going on out there.
