Guys, I'm asking you to be on your best behavior now. Don't start fights, don't do stuff that requires moderation. And please don't make any requests to the Forum Boss for the next couple of days.

REASON: I live in Ventura, CA. There is a HUGE fire that has destroyed 200 homes. The mandatory EVAC Zone is now 1/2 mile away from where I live (see map)

And please guys... don't fret if there are no bulletin stories today.

We are having 60 mph winds... so this fire could go on for a couple more days...

I lived up on Ventura Avenue back in the early 80's, - I bet it's changed a bunch since then. - I was a Port Huneme at the Naval Ships weapons Engineering Station part of the base. - And I remember when we had the big fires in San Diego when I lived there. - Stressful is an understatement indeed.

Blaze now 45,000 acres, still pushed by 50+ mph winds. Smoke is close, very close.

The decision-making process of what to take in last carload is interesting. You think: "What is irreplaceable?", "what will mean the most to the family"...

Then the main computer... Rx items... extra shoes, a couple jackets. And yes, the family photos...

Advice to all -- do an inventory of the valuable items in your house. Take pictures. Do a video walk-through in the house.

This is about 1 mile from where I live...

Horizontal smoke... been a wildland firefighter for over 40 years, never a good sign. Set the sprinklers if you can, roof and perimiter, and get out before it's too late. Good Luck and be safe!

Just went thru the same thing with the Redwood Complex Fire. EVERYTHING can be replaced but your life. So CYA!! Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

I'm 25 miles East in Santa Clarita where we have the Rye Fire at 5K acres,
the Creek Fire at 11K to the South, and forum boss' fire at 50K acres all going with 60mph winds. Power is out in a lot of areas and traffic is horrendous without the signal in addition to the freeway closures.
My girlfriend is an equine vet and is evacuating, sedating, and treating a bunch of animals. Poor guys can't get out on their own. This one was saved but will probably lose an eye. Prayers for those involved.
