Fire Forming - Accuracy

I did my first round of fire-forming this weekend for the 6ppc. Used 220 Russian Lapua cases all prepped for .262 neck and seated at .012 jam. I was shocked to find this round extremely accurate, so accurate that I would be thrilled if this was my final developed round. I'm now wondering if I will be able to get the fire-formed cases to shoot this good...lol....I didn't think a non fire formed case jammed like this was supposed to be very accurate, I was shooting approx. 2's-3's in 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Now I'm new to this game so excuse my ignorance if this is normal, but I was surprised.

Welcome to the accurate world of the Traditional BR 6PPC [.262"/.263" necks]. FF a second time then take them to the line for competition. They'll shoot even better. :)

I'm sure you noticed that the fire form load is considerably below normal PPC loads. If you go with the same fire form loads in your already formed cases, don't expect the same accuracy. Normally you will have to increase the powder charge to get back to that accuracy level. Enjoy.

Gergg you would be surprised at the rifles that shoot fire forming. I've fire formed at 1000 yards with some of my rifles and shot some great groups. And I know a few guys, that is all they do is fire forum in Matches. So if your rifle like that and doesn't shoot any better the second or third time, you may want to measure the new brass at the shoulder, then again after their fired. Then try full length sizing and bumping the shoulder back, but remember the brass will not last but you may get good groups. Some Guys say they bump 6 thou. and get away with it.My brass has only 2 thou. difference. And I only bump 1 thou.
