Fire Forming 6 BRA.

@Alex Wheeler what is your opinion on doing fireforming on a new barrel, should that be done in a fire forming barrel if possible? Or should someone just use those 100 ish fireforming rounds as barrel break in also?

Personally I have caused myself more grief by trying to tune a barrel too soon. They change too much in that first 100 so I think fire forming in the new barrel is a good thing.

This is what i was wondering. If I keep 100 pcs of brass in rotation, i think I will just use that for barrel break in. However, if i was going to keep 200 pcs in rotation, I may do it different.

Thank you for the info.

I have customers that just keep using the same brass from one barrel to the next. That works too. It really does not wear out.

Hmmmm.... good to know
I am new to 6bra, but in my 30br, I keep 200 pcs in rotation, retire them at 20 firings each when i retire the barrel at 4000 rounds.

Sorry to the OP if I have high jacked your thread. I did not mean to do that.

No problem. This is my first BRA so I need the info. I have been fireforming with 29.7 IMR 4895. I have a lot of .250 to low .3 groups. Having a hard time bettering that with full power loads.
