Now get it built and post it up...…..Mine got here today. I like it alot. I got the standard fore-end but plan to order the wider one real soon. Boyd's wouldn't add it to my order so I have to order it separately I guess.
It's the one thing I do not like about the Boyd's stocks. The forearm on all there stocks is only about 2" wide Max. Also fairly tall. Would love to see the around 3" wide and a third shorter( side profile).I tried a friends "regular" AT-one stock and for me the grip did not feel right. When I seen that they went with the thumbhole design I was in to give it a try, so far I love it. I wish I could get a wider front forearm for it as even the "target" style is really narrow and since I mostly shoot from a rest its a little fiddley sometimes.
BTW if you have a large diameter bull barrel be prepared to do so serious "relieving" for the barrel. I don't think Boyd's intended this stock for large barrel target shooting rifles.
Agreed, like a bench rest forearm. It could easily be done but I don't think Boyd's is into the whole bench rest thing which is a shame because they make some really awesome "average joe affordable" stocks! It's the one thing I do not like about the Boyd's stocks. The forearm on all there stocks is only about 2" wide Max. Also fairly tall. Would love to see the around 3" wide and a third shorter( side profile).
Seen a guy at another range shooting a AT-one and he made (or bought) a thick plastic plate that was about 3x5 inches 1/2 inch thick and it was attached to the bottom of his "coated" wide forearm. This plate would fit in, and slide in his bag. Never could catch him to ask about it? Neat idea but looks a little goofy...I ordered the wider fore-end for mine. I like the way it looks but with the rubber coating, it is sticky!! It doesn't move around much on my front bag. I'd be interested in one that was a lot slicker.
