Finally new blood

Preacher

After a year and a half building it, I got to blood it the first time out between rain drops. 386 yards out with a 120 Ballistic tip over 62.8 grains of RL-17 and the Russian primers at 3500 FPS from my 7500 Lawton-29 inch Bartlein - 7mm SAUMA ....

Thats one of Joel Russo's excellent MBR stocks, and I snuck the diamond in when he wasn't looking :D

Preacher,

Please email me at mailbox@6mmBR.com re potential Gun of Week story on this. Thanks.

Come on Preacher, get you some 162 A-maxes or 180 Bergers and stretch that things legs. I am shooting a 7 SAUM, Lawton 7500 and Bartlein barrel and it really likes the 162 A-maxes. Shooting 66.6 gr H1000 & BR2s Nosler brass 10 shots on some brass and still tight primer pockets.,disclaimer, work up your load) 'course I haven't tried the Bergers in this barrel.

You aught to see what a 100gr hp @3600 does to a p-dog. I toned the load down to 61gr IMR4350 and 3400. It shoots sub .5 at 300 and I bet you would`nt want to post a pic of what it`de do to a GH. The 120vmax is a big mess maker too. I havnt tried the 120bt yet but looking at the pic I think you can get more expansion. My 7saum loves 168smk`s but they`re not good for much more than paper. I use the 162amax for the looong shots in the wind and it ROCKS.

That rifle shoots the 162 Hornady A-max, and the 168 Berger VLD's VERY well, all with RL-17 at around 3150 FPS, but I figured the 120 Ballistic Tips would launch then a bit better, and it would have I imagine if I had hit it about a inch lower just as it lays. Actually it never even moved from where it is.. If it ever stops raining around here I'll try it again.......

What was the yardage that you shot the grass pig at? You m:Dust have a little Weatherby blood deep down inside with that nice diamond inlay on your stock. Is that a 4x setup of Burris rings holding up your sight tube? What scope do you have on this rifle? Are you going to use it to hunt other animals. Last question what is the twist rate?

The distance was right at 386 yards according to my Geovids... impossible to find a longer distance on that farm..
I have a lot of small chunks of figured Mesquite that need a place to stay, and are just about the right size for inlays...
Yep, on the 4 Burris Signature rings, I do that a lot, for no particular reason other than I like em, and it can't hurt anything but the weight, and I don't drag em to far from the truck..
That scope is one of many Nightforce 12x42x56 NP2 DD's I use on my varmint rifles..
I shoot targets of opportunity with that 7mm, and like the farm owner says--If it don't look like one of my cows, kill it please.....
The barrel is a 9 twist......
