Finally got a SCATT

Bullet Maker
After suffering through sub-par offhand scores for too long, I finally broke down and bought a SCATT. Looks fairly straightforward, but anyone have any suggestions on how to make the most of it? (For any position, really, but I'm mostly working on off hand).

You can print targets for whatever distance you can set up. You can enter a 200yd high Power target at 25' and it will scale the target to look similar to a real target. You can do this with any of the targets in their database. Print on card stock and cut it to fit in the target carrier. Also, start with the f-coefficient in the easy setting. I think it is the lowest setting possible. As you progress, you can up the f-coeffcient to make it more difficult. I think this tracks muzzle movement as you break the shot. You will learn a lot about your weak spots, and learn very quickly. Several times when I first got mine 5 years ago, I almost had a rifle exit a closed window when I saw how bad my trigger control was! It is a great tool. When you decide to change something in your position, change only one thing at a time. You will see almost instantly if it is an improvement or not.

its a good tool. make the most of it by using it. I use mine 2x a day on average for 3 weeks, then take a week off, that keeps me from getting burnt out. it's been an essential tool since I switched to the match rifle away from the service rifle. my offhand scores haven't gone up but they average out now. my typical 2 MOA trigger jerk is now a 2 MOA jerk most of the time so it helps me be more consistent. I can make stock changes and try them out before live fire. like MattKubic said, you will know instantly if something isn't going to work. the only caveat I've found with it is getting a position for rapid sitting. I would find a position that felt great but once I did live fire, the position wasn't solid enough to stay together like I needed so I had to make changes at the range. now that I have a decent position, I can practice sitting with those settings.

Alas, this is what I expect to find, and then some. Something is very wrong, as I've tried changing various things and nothing ever makes my scores go up. If I hadn't seen guys who can hold the 10 ring in person, I probably wouldn't believe it's possible. I've managed to occasionally break into Master and even High Master scores for individual strings in every other stage, but offhand remains stubbornly Sharpshooter.

Shot process, mental program, practice practice practice. The SCATT will help if you can calibrate it and sync it to your shot call.
