Filling/sealing Edgewood Dead Bottom Bag

I confess to being perplexed. I bought an Edgewood Dead Bottom Bag based on some of what I've read here on the forum. To fill it with sand, I can only find a small slit under the leather name patch. There's no "spout" like other bags. Probably no place to tuck in a spout anyway.

So . . . . Do I poke a funnel through this little slit and fill it there? Once I'm done, how do I keep sand from leaking out? I suppose I could seal up the opening with RTV, but I'd like to have flexibility to add or remove sand as I get used to the bag.

I use a small funnel to add a light layer of sand then blue painters tape to cover the opening.

Thanks, SPJ. I use a powder drop funnel to fill bags. The long stem can be used to pack the sand when desired. It worked well for this one. I thought the bag might have been made wrong, but I know it usually the operator not the product. I used duct tape to cover the opening to achieve that sought after bubba look.

How do you level the rear bag on top of this 'dead bottom' bag?

I'm needing to raise the height of my rear bag and am thinking of getting a 'dead bottom'bag.
