Fierce Rival bolt help needed

Gary O'Neal

Silver $$ Contributor
Can anyone tell me how to disassemble the bolt on my Fierce Rival action. Instructions don’t work and I didn’t receive a “bolt disassembly tool. It’s based on a REM 700 action but the bolt design must be different. Thanks for any help you can give me.

No it doesn’t. I’ve used the string method many time to disassemble Remington bolts, but on the Fierce it just keeps turning until it stops. The firing pin isn’t unscrewing.

Looks to be like a Howa, push the shroud in by hand, turn shroud away from cocking ramp 90 degrees and firing pin assy will pop out. Be careful as it is under some spring pressure. Good luck.

Thanks Paul. I think we’re on the right track, but turning the shroud doesn’t release the firing pin. Any ideas?

Gary,
Turn the shroud assy clockwise 90 degrees or so and it should pop free. Sorry, can't remember exactly what action this is. Sako maybe? You may try a drop or two of Kroil on the firing pin shaft assy as it may be dry or corroded as they are a nice fit. Access the shaft by way of cocking ramp. Sorry, that's all I have, info wise. I do believe we are on the right track though.

Sounds like a typical Bayonet Pull bolt shroud, just like a Bat.

As was said, twist it clockwise untill the firing pin assy pops out.

To reassemble, put the firing pin assy back in that position, push in hard and turn counter clockwise.
