I just bit the bullet and got a laser during Amazon Prime days. I got the 50w non MOPA unit the Laser Everything guys recommended. Just got it and will unbox it tomorrow.

Have any of you guys tried to engrave custom scope turrets? I would like to furnish them for the folks I build a rifle for. Is there a program out their that helps you with the layout? My machine came with ezcad and I plan one getting Lightburn. My big problem is I’m not much of a computer guy. I plan on joining the discord group for LE once I get my machine assembled. They might have someone I can hire to help me get everything setup.

Perhaps not the one you purchased, but I looked at later engravers on prime day and didn't see any that were discounted. My favorite gun store just installed a nice laser and charges $75 per barrel. I can have a lot of barrels engraved before paying justifying my own BUT...

Hank takes about three minutes to set up a barrel and 30 seconds a side to engrave cal and my logo. Pretty hard to justify the price to just engrave barrels. The wife does pretty good with it on here own that it will make money.

That’s just a different lens size there coming with. The bigger the lens the bigger the dot size means less power. As far marking barrels I use my 110 lens. You can add different size lenses but the wattage of the machine will determine how big you can go.

Curious to know what you found out on the scope turret engraving? I’m interested also but it does seem like it would be difficult?

Bringing this thread back up - been struggling a bit with clean engraving for barrel marking.

Anyone care to share their details for ATF depth and clean engraving?

I would advise to LVL’s advice and watch the series on you tube that Everything Laser has. It is dedicated to the Fiber Galvo, and once e you go through the setup process and get it all setup your marks will look great.

In the essence of keeping information in one spot I am gonna post this here.

I picked up a (new to me) 30 watt Omtech fiber laser this weekend. Been playing around with it and everything is going good until I started using the rotary. I am experimenting with a logo and for whatever reason it is breaking it up into 5 segments and marking it out of sequence.

It frames correctly, and in preview it burns from left to right like it’s suppose to, but once you hit the start button it goes wild.

Anyone able to set me straight?

The stock is 1” and I set that in the preset option.

I would fiddle with that. Might want .5 instead of 1. Might want it in mm.

It's been a while since I set mine up, but make sure the rotary is set up correctly. Meaning; if lightburn tells it to turn 180 degrees, it actually turns 180 degrees.
