How did it go?Anyone ever fire formed they’re 30 BR brass with Varget? Reason I ask is because I have two new Barrels on the way and a boatload of extra Varget and I would rather use it for fire forming than use up my 4198 or N130.
I will let you know hopefully next week, I don’t see how it can’t work tho.How did it go?
I have fire formed 30br with V133, and Vv135.
Im sure what you got would work
I've f-formed 30BR cases with a case full of 748 several times. It's right there with Varget on the burn rate chart...though the load density is quite different due to the physical differences of the powder. A substantial amount of jam-seat and pretty stout neck tension always stack the odds in your favor when f-forming...doubly so with too-slow powders. A bit more bullet weight doesn't hurt either in that scenario.I will let you know hopefully next week, I don’t see how it can’t work tho.
What kind of powder charge are you thinking about using? I've got a new 30br and some extra varget, same as you and rather not use the N130. Might give this a go as well.I will let you know hopefully next week, I don’t see how it can’t work tho.
Probably see how much I can pour quickly and go from there, should be able to put 32gr or more in there easily. I don’t expect a bunch of speed out of it but will be good enough to expand brass, straighten my expanded necks and put a little carbon inside the necks. I don’t think there is any way to over pressure with the Varget and the big 30 cal openingWhat kind of powder charge are you thinking about using?
