Fesss Up!!

Ok the honest truth here, who's shot their chronograph? I had mine set up at the range doing some load work. This guy walks up and starts to ask me all about it, how it works etc. He then asks if he can shoot his 06 over it, being a nice guy and all I said sure.
I gave him a target to aim at so I could get it aligned with his bore on my bags. Ok we're set to go, he shoots and I take note of the velocity, next thing I know he shoots again only at a different target running a 180 grain pill through my Pro-Tech from stem to stern. He's all apologetic and offers to pay for it, which I accepted. Sent it back to Competition Electronics who replaced it for $25.00. Haven't put a bullet through one since. Man there was a load of plastic on the ground.

TWUD if i listed all the dumb things iv shot[ all unintentional]
with weapons ranging from slingshots, tennis rackets[hitting golf balls off the roof of a garage with it police got involved excuse i was only 13 yrs old],air rifles/pistols.pea shooters buses on the uk used to have open backs where you got on we used to ambush them going past our school 10 spotty kids letting fly with solid peas was pretty painful for the bus conductor.then as we got older 22. rimfire was responsible for a few mishaps and yes i have shot a chrony and the stand it was on with a 243AI not a lot left after that.the list can go on but i dont want to incriminate myself.
lets here more stories bet you could write a book just from this thread.

Shot my buddy in the leg with a Crossman pump up type pellet gun. Man what a whelt it left even through a pair of jeans. I was 13 and he was pissed.
OK, I've bared my soul. Can't think of anything else, except the roof on the ................

Shot up a friend's chrony one time with a .222. Sent it back to Chrony and had it returned good as new in about a week and a half for a very nominal fee. We won't even talk about BB gun related incidents when I was a kid,I can still show you some scars from 45 years ago). . . . .

Once a few years ago whilst checking velocity on some rounds, I thought I'd just see what that 5.5" Super Blackhawk would do with 200gr HP. I didn't want to mess up the Chrony, so was real careful and held the muzzle about a foot from the first screen and touched one off. :nono:

Gotta say that Chrony's customer service is pretty good.

Ive put two bullets through the base of my front sky screen,,Oehler),amazingly its still in service.

My experience was with a 50-gr. Hornady SX from a .22-250 at a speed and twist that made it decide to give up the ghost when it left the barrel. The Chrony looked like an anti-aircraft round had gone off in front of it. When Hornady named those bullets "Super Explosive" they meant it!
