FERTILIZER PLANT EXPLOSION!

jonbearman

I live in new york state,how unfortunate !
Please keep these americans on your prayer list as this is lot worse than they thought it to be.If you live near there,my heart goes out to you and will continue to have hope that they will find the missing people including some firefighters.

Amen brother, seems to be a rash of stuff happening here in the last couple days. I hope this is it. It is heart breakening to see this stuff going on.

It is a sad day for the folks of West. It is a small town settled by Czechs and other european immigrants. Primarily a farming community.
Here is a little irony. On April 16, in 1947 a ship in port at Texas City, Tx was loading fertilizer and it caught fire. The resulting explosion killed 563 and leveled all of the area.

Has your president issued a statement yet? In terms of lives and injuries only, it is much more tragic than the Boston Tragedy.

i live 50 miles from there, and was at soccer practice with my youngest son, and we heard it while we were on the field. Some say they felt it.

fire alone wont "set off" ammonium nitrate ! it needs a charge,blasting cap,etc. hopefully details will be released.also the mixture of fuel to nitrate is a small percent to explode with detonating device !

So since he can't use the Texas tragedy politically he just lets it go!!

Really? ::)

I find it simply amazing that some people will try to find anything, anything at all, to try and trash Obama. Do I love the guy? NO. But really............c'mon man! :-X It gets really old. Really old.

Back to the subject at hand...........it sounds like a horrible tragedy and I hope it's not as bad as feared.

My thoughts are with the survivors and the their long road to recovery. :'(

Not quite true Doc, it depends on the fire. Have you seen pictures of this fire before the explosion? The plant was fully involved and the flames were being driven by a 20 MPH wind, yea that is plenty to set it off. Every thing that happens is not a conspiracy every time, sometimes bad things just happen...
