Feeding the 6BR from a magazine

Has anyone had any success feeding the 6br from a 308 length savage magazine? I am interested in building a 6br repeater to shoot the 107 & 115 gr. bullets and want to be able to load them long. I suspect that I will need a center-feed magazine for this straight wall case and any help will be appreciated.

the Tikka has a centre feed mag, and the 223 mag feeds the 105 projectiles with a long throat ok, though OAL becomes the limiting factor. However mine has a 30 tho lead and I'm loading 70 and 90g projectiles. Oddly enough the 70's seem to feed ok, but the 90's dont. The 90's push forward until the rim rebate catches on the feed lip, then rotate up and wedge between the point of hte projectile at top of the receiver and the chamber face. I still have to play around with modifying the feed lips, so may get them to feed, but that short fat case is definitely not conducive to easy feeding!

Check with Sharp Shooter Supply. Fred Moreo there is advertising a completely new center feed detachable magazine. I don't know if it will work with a short case like the 6BR, but call Fred.

i have shot first the 6br and now the 6brx in a pair of, rem 700 for nmc shooting for the past few years using homemade aluminum mags, each holds 5 rounds and they are single stack., yes the 6br and the 6brs will work just fine. I made my mags one winter during the christmas break here in the shop and yes i had to much time on my hands, you have to make the mags which are in two halfs and also the followers and the bases, also you need to make the bottom metal too. I used the article on the 700 mag fix to get my Sako L579 fo feed 30BR. I made a spacer for the rear of the mag but the .243 follower wouldn't hold the cases in. I got a follower from a .223 cut off the rear of it to fit in the now shorter mag because of the spacer then trimmed the follower spring to fit and oh happy happy joy joy.

just to follow up on my Tikka T3. I've modified the feed rails on the 223 mag and its now feeding the 70-90g projectiles flawlessly
