OK fellers with 6Br rifle knowledge,
can a rem 700 308bf vssf or sendero style rifle be rebarreled,, (kreiger 7-8 twist) and chambered with a no-turn neck and set up as a REPEATER ,, not a single shot ,,and still feed the 105's,,107's,,etc??
Will these bullets/brass cycle flawlessly???
can I use the 308 magazine box?

There is plenty of room but I don't know if they will work flawlessly. I have a 308 mag box and trigger guard and I just checked. I turned mine into a single shot. There was a thread about making repeter 6BR's a while back.

It will all work specially with the longer bullets, except for the extractor, you need to get a Sako extractor to be able to eject the little 6BR case.

thanks for the input fellers,
I forgot to ad this project rifle will be for varmints,, not BR shooting.
I prefer the sako extractor anyhow,,thanks X3Mhunter
this setup should make a heck of a long range yote killer with those 105 bergers.

HUH? Why is that? Both my 6BR's use stock Remington extractors.

They extract, but not reliably, there was even a bulletin item where they talk about upgrading to a Sako extractor for 6BR's. Mine didn't extract good enough, sometimes I had to twist rifle on it's side to get it to spit the case out.

There was a thread on benchrest.com about the hazards of going to a Sako extractor. I'de check it out before I made any changes.
And there was some info about modifications to a Remington mag to make it feed 6BR brass. Not sure how good it works?

The 6BR case is "tricky" to get to feed flawlessly to say the least due to short body, heavy bullet out front. It is also slightly short in 308 length magazines so generally best to have a block in magazine. Check out the 6-6.5x47 Lapua. Feeds much better and perfect length for 308 magazine with VLD bullets. Punches out there a little better as well. If you are going repeater for hunting I would lean that way.

thanks for the opinions.
lots of decisions to be made before I head out to my gunsmith. 6-6.5x47 hmmmmmm...

Erik are you talking about extraction or ejection? It sounds like you are talking about ejection problems if you are having to tilt it to the side to get the case out.

The ejection problem that most Remington 700's have is that the ejector plunger has used up all the available stroke by the time the case mouth reaches the ejection port. This can be fixed by removing the the plunger and making the retaining pin slot in the plunger longer, usually about .030" will do it.

If someone comes up with a 100% reliable way to feed a Rem 700 with out spending an arm and a leg please let me know also. I am building a 6x47 right now just because of the feeding issues with the 6BR.

the Sako extractor is the fix for the weak ejection when using the BR in a Remington action, take a look.....

The Sako modification cost about $125 and you can do the plunger modification for nothing if you have any kind of skills and a dremel tool in about 20 minutes. The plunger mod will achieve the same results.

with the very short BR case lengthening the plunger slot doesn't work as well as going to the Sako extractor, and if the ejector plunger protrudes too far it can cause feeding problems with the BR case, the Sako conversion by relocating the extractor from 3:00 up to 2:00 pulls the case mouth up above the right lug raceway thus preserving most of the spring pressure in the ejector, it's the best $100 bucks you can spend if your going to try to build a BR repeater, something I've done a few of.
