Feeding a dasher from a long action?

Any one have any luck doing this? Action is a rem 700. I see Wyatts makes a center feed box magazine, I wonder if that would work?

I would think that the extra real estate in the long action would just add to the potential for problems, but it`s just a guess.......

Alex,

Should have never read your post. Dug out my old factory 600 Remington in 6MM. Great for deer, that 18" bbl is hard to hold steady. Never thought of re-barreling to Dasher. Just stuffed three Dashers into the magazine and it feeds perfectly.

Of course I had to get a cleaning rod out to drive out two of the shells that I stupidly closed the bolt on and jammed into the 6mm chamber.

Find a 600 action. I just tested and it works. Now should I ruin a decent old rifle I have had since the 60's ???

It will feed just fine from a long action but you probably won't be able to shoot anything but the longer bullets and you will have to play around with overall length. If the option is available, you may have to also modify the throat to your OAL. A short action will work also but then you will more than likely have to seat past the neck/shoulder junction depending on bullet selection. IMHO a straight line mag feed always works better than a staggered mag option. I just finished a Rem 700 using a straight line mag assembly, it works awesome.

Alex, Ran them through a short action Savage….. i can't believe, i just may find some use for this gun. ….as a Dasher…JIm
