FedEx again

I ordered some primers from Brownells and they shipped FedEx. Brownells states that adult signature is required and a photo ID may be required. Not real happy about that, but there is more.
fedX delivered the primers, I signed for them and he asked for my DL for ID. I showed my DL to him, then he said he needed to SCAN the back of my DL! Oh no, that’s not happening. I told him the website said nothing about scanning a DL, he said he was required to do it. I refused to let him scan it, and fortunatey he didn’t push it and handed me my primers.
has anyone else had this occur?

I get mixed results from FedX drivers, yesterdays driver refused to hand the package to me said it had to be delivered to the front door ?????? most times they seem to be relived they dont have to walk that far and almost toss the boxes to me

There is no cure for stupid. FedX drivers prove that. Tommy Mc

Yes
It's called CYA for FedEx. The bar code on the back provides all the details of the person who is signing. Just a short cut to log the information.

Dave, that’s what worries me! They don’t need all of my info. All they need to do is have me sign, and look at my picture ID. I honestly don’t know what all info is on that barcode on the back of a DL

Heres one for you. Sent a 22 Low wall insured thru my fed-x account. they broke the cocking lever...hot the F did they do that! I send the barreled action separate from the stock so breakage doesnt happen. Any way I over insured it. But they would not cover it since I had not filled out a FFL form or not being a FFL though I shipped to FFL. They changed this a year ago. so guys a FFL has to send your gun to another FFL to be insured by Fed F..ing X....just so you know!

When you insured it they ask what the contents were. Did you identify it as a firearm?

I was asked for I.D. to purchase a can of beer, I'm 82 years old, when the young man attempted to scan my drivers license, I quick to respond, "not that thirsty, I'll never darken your door again". I may look better than Robert Redford now, but I don't look 60 years younger and questionable.

TMwinds...no i did not,I just dropped off at Fed-X depot. But had pics of wrapping barreled action all the way to box.I cover my tracks with pics,in this case and from now on it will ship thru a friends FFL to FFL.My older guns are worth the cost!

They do that to me when I have primer/powder orders over 500 bucks. which is kinda hard for me to buy under 500 bucks worth given the prices recently.

I just let them scan it. They already know my address. All they get from scanning my ID is my eye color and height.

The jist of the process is this. They have their drivers scan IDs so they can employ anyone regardless of their level of intelligence. Then they do not have to rely on drivers doing math on who is an adult or not and entering information on who received the package.

I'm lucky though, my FedEx guy (and my UPS guy) are both really nice and not afraid of a quick chat.

It's the info one your DL.... just in barcode language.

Last Hazmat FedEx delivery I got driver handed me the package then asked to scan my ID, said I'll show you my ID but you are not scanning it, told me he has to take package back if I refuse scanning. Told him he can't have it back, accept my signature or I'm going in the house. He left and I walked inside with my package.
