I do know that only one factory makes 155 artillery shells for military now. For last 30 years US has allowed too much M&A among defense contractors. WTF would have allowed them to close/get down to only one plant to mfg artillery shell? 95% sure it was a Rep and Dem failure. Supposedly there is a new plant coming on line shortly, or already online the last few months. Maybe in PA?

GD, BAE and Gruman make bulk of US ammo.

Never going to happen, huge investment…lost money….all tooling sold off.

It's funny, when I was growing up Czechoslovakia was part of the Soviet Union. I guess I don't have that short of a memory.

I can't imagine a world where the United States is selling off its infrastructure for manufacturing ammunition to foreign companies. I don't care who they are.

do you guys happen to know who supplies most of the 556 and 7.62 ammo to military? the 270 fury I suppose will be made by Sig, but they will almost have to let US companies to make it under license to meet US military needs?

Lake City makes 556 and 762 plus other calibers. Lake City right now is being run by Winchester. Sig is making Furry ammo and Lake City is building a new building and getting tooled up to make it.

The owner is now a Czech company, but the products will still be manufactured in the U.S.

At least for a short period until the contract language runs out. Then it will be adios amigo.
