as i am loading some rounds to test in my new AR, i was looking for some sort of ammo that i could by over the counter that would work in my rifle. the rifle is a rock river upper mated to a stag lower. the barrel is a white oak armament SS SPR match barrel, with a 1/8 twist. i tried some 55 grn remington MC,white and green box) and got some not so good results. they shot good at 50 yards, about 1" with strong wind shooting of of a folding table.... i know..., but the group opened up to almost 3-5 times the size, around 5"-6")moving to the 100 yard range. could this be an ammo problem or a rifle problem,or even shooter?)
i havent been able to get the time to get back to the range since the problem arrose. i have changed out the scope mount system i had,1" riser, with a set of rings holding down the scope)with a more proper one piece scope mount. i have only shot this rifle once. :,,with the old scope mount) hope to change that soon!!
would this ammo work well in a 1/8 twist barrel? any better posibilities out there that are in the 20.00$ a box range, even though thats outragous, hence the reason i am reloading...
thanks guys, brian.
if you have any suggesetions as to what might cause the groupin, please let me know.
