Hi Folks, new guy here. Want to pass on the info I have on the NRA.
The big problem at the NRA office is lack of help.
This past June I was shooting the Hunter Pistol Nat. in PA and met the lady(Lois I think) who is responsible for the High Power and Silhouette records (along with all the daily and weekly duties).
We chatted for a short time about F class(I'm new to this game) and I mentioned that I had read several places on the net about National records being slow to get recorded.
She said the main problem was "SHE" was the only person in the office doing the records for both. She was also the only secratary for the guy ??? in charge of High Power rifle and Mr Conner in Silhouette dept. There are a few others in the office, Johnathan L. , Mrs Chin, etc, but they had more than they could do to keep up with the day to day stuff.
I know Silhouette is a dying game, but there is still a lot of clubs shooting weekly matches. Now you folks know the number of F Class, Prone, High Power, etc., matches going around the country every weekend.
She said the piles of targets around the office waiting to be scored were everywhere. The floor, the cabinets, desk, even in the hall.
She also said one of the big problems was the forms the match directors had to fill out, more often than not, were not filled out correctly, there fore they had to go back to them for completition or couldn't be certified at all.
She said there was a ton that are just waiting with all the paperwork done correctly, just getting to it was the problem. She spend a lot of time in the summer at Perry and Whitington and most of the winter working on the next years schedules and making the record books the silhouette shooters use. If someone calls or one of the bosses holler, she stops and digs till she finds the target/match requested, checks everything out and then process as needed. Then someone else would holler about some schedule, etc and off she would go in another direction. She said she has been asking for help for years.
She is a retired manager from a huge Corp. She works there to keep herself busy(definatly not the money) and said she enjoys her work.
I know all the above is here say, but it is what I was told directly by her face to face.
I think we need to be calling someone further up the chain to try to get more help in that dept.
Back on topic, Memphis sound like a likely destination in my near future.
