Obviously Faxon has identified a segment in the market regarding bolt actions. I know that their engineers have done their homework.I had first thought so also, but look at the custom rem 700 clone market. There are many 2 lug clones that shoot just fine. I don't think lugs in themselves tell the whole story.
I had originally thought that about Weatherby, that if Weatherby had done it it must have had data to back it up, But why are they chasing the 2 lug market, even with action mount, trigger, rails? This is why I mentioned the 307, at $750 it seems a decent option possibly as you gain a plethora of rem 700 accessories, several trigger options as well that is manufactured by a company with a track record. You gain the same thing with the Faxon.
The guys at Faxon are responsive and quick to adapt, that is worth something in itself. They also started listing barrel blanks so that gunsmiths can adopt their 8.6 blackout barrels, and that is something that I had asked them about several weeks ago. So far I like their barrels, not adverse to looking at their actions, but most of my premise is that I want to build my own action and for better or worse the blanks AND bolts are 2 lug. If I just can't wait and resort to buying a bolt action, I would consider the Faxon.
Regardless, only time will tell if their 1st bolt action will succeed or not.
