Running the 130VLD's @ 2960. Very accurate. 26" 8 twist. 2800 will be EZ.

I'm jumping them .038. OAL 2.875. That's as long as can go and still reliably mag feed.

If you are planning on shooting just the 130VLD's, maybe consider getting a reamer made for a shorter OAL?

Whats youre powder and charge?.I plan on this rifle being my tactical competition rifle and I want a fast, accurate load with a good B.C.
Also! Do you have a Detach Box Mag? 2.875 Seems long to not shoot single shot? My DPMS wouldnt cycle with anything over 2.810 OAL.

As always, safely work your charge up.

4350, 44.5.

I was just checking the throat on my new 6.5 Creedmoor DPMS and was surprised to find that when loading 140 Gr. Sierras to an overall length of 2.775" i was was showing marks from the rifling when I dropped one in the chamber and closed the bolt. I'm really happy to be able to reach the rifling while still being under 2.8" overall. This thing shoots fabulous.

Just got a savage lrh in 6.5 cm and could not be happier. Factory hornady 120 a-max (first 2 boxes were h4350-44.5g, next 4 39g varget. Both shoot sub moa, very good factory ammo). This was the only brass I could find. Only bullets avail. then were nos 140 custom comps, so I tried 35.5g varget (horn book is 35.8). First (and only so far) 3 shot grp at 100yds measured .125". These were shots #10,11,and 12 from the rifle out of the box. Needless to say I am impressed.
Since then have found some bergers and hornady bullets and can't wait to try em. Anyone tried hornady 123 a-max? Just noticed fac loads use them for grendels but not creedmoors and wonder why. Higher bc w/123's than 120'so thought i'd give a try.
Thanks to sav and horn and all the breat bullet maker of our time. Also accurate shooters for the experience you guys share!

This thread is pretty old, and I haven't been here for a long time. But, I have just built a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle. I have shot 308 for decades and have achieved my best accuracy from W748, which most people think is a fluke. Regardless, in all my perusing H4350 seems to the the exclusive recommendation for top accuracy in the 6.5 CM.

Are there any reloading spec using w748? H4350 (IMR4350 or AA4350) is in very short supply, and I have a lot of 748. Any recommendations of a good starting point for working up a load, or a source of published data? Something that has worked well for you?

BTW, I am going to be working with Starline brass and Berger 140 gr VLD bullets.

I'm working on one in Remington 700, changed the trigger to a Timney 1.75lbs, stock to Bell&Carlson. Working on 140gr bullets 22" barrel. I didn't have H4350, so I used IMR 4350, H414, H4895. Nolser HBT 140. Hornady SST and Berger CHB 135gr. As of right now, Berger with H414 under 3/8, Nosler with H4895 about the same. Hornady SST out of the race. Also shot some factory Superformance 129gr SST, dirty and didn't shoot plus HOT. I'm going next Monday to try to finish.I loaded some of Bergers with IMR4350. Played with a few 95grVmax, did OK. did fine Nosler about .020 OTL, Berger like to jump..065OTL.

Win-748 is not ideal for 140 grainers in the 6.5 creedmoo.

Hodgdon's data with Win-748 and 6.5 greedmoor only goes up to 130 gr. and they have around 35 grains as MAX. Quickload shows a bit higher than 35 as max.

w748 will be much better for the light 6.5mm bullets.

RL-16 is also very popular right now. Availability is hit and miss with RL-16 as well.
