FAst twist .22 walking varminter?

Ray also reamed a .224 blank Wilson seater for the .22-204, using the same Pacific Tool reamer. I'm using a Redding .204 Type S, FL bushing die, set up for the .22-204 by swapping bushings. A Redding tech told me that this die will move up or down one caliber without modification. Ray was standing by to relieve the die with a carbide tool if necessary. I'm watching for the UPS truck, ready to get started on this project.

Pretty cool stuff 8). Looking forward to the results. Especially the velocity of the fast twist version with the heavier slugs. Sounds like a fun round to work with.

Guns are back and Ray's work, as always, looks great. He did a swirly type finish on the SS Brux barrel and it really looks good. I had not seen a finish like that before. He straightened out a chamber problem with the 722 Rem, Hart barreled .222. The previous smith had gouged the mouth of the chamber with his tools. I had not noticed it until shooting some hot .222 loads and noticed a wedge shaped blowout of a Lapua case near the web. A look-see with the Hawkeye showed the problem. As the Hart barrel is very low mileage, it was worth salvaging. The original smith had experienced a meltdown in his personal life and was no longer doing business. Ray was able to salvage a very good Hart barrel and because he already had the PTG reamer, I decided to make the 722 into a .22-204 as well. Working up loads for both, fast and slow twist, will be interesting. Gotta get them back in their stocks and load some ammo.
