fast twist 22-250 with 75gr Amax???

hey guys, ive got a 223wssm,1-8"twist shooting 75g Amax @ 3350fps)that is shot out,in 400 rounds). i cant think of what to make it. im thinking 6mmbr, 243wssm, 6.5-284, and even a 7wsm....

i thought a while back about doing a fast twist 22-250,since i love my 22-250 with the 55gr Vmax) and shooting the 75 Amax. im thinking about a 1-8" or 1-9" twist. if anyone has any knowledge on this please let me know how it went. im thinking that it could compete with the velocity of the 223wssm and also have a better barrel life. i have decided to try out the 5C Broughton barrel, so that should help out with some velocity regardless of the cartridge...

any other thoughts are more than welcome....

thanks,
jeremy

The 1-9 twist will work for the 75gr A-max and go with the AI version of the 22-250 and you will have better velocity . I am having one built right know . Preacher can tell you more about it, he already has one that he really likes . Good luck hope this helps .

You will have more fun with a 9 twist 22/250 AI shooting those awesome 75 grain A-max's than your probably allowed to.
300 yard shots on crows turn them into a puff of black feathery looking dust.
My Pac-Nor S/S-SM likes them better than any other bullet along with F210 M's and H-4350.......
Build one and the fun will follow.....

I use the 75 AMax in a .223AI,Pac-Nor SSSM, 8 twist, 25.5 grains N140, WSR primer) at ~2950FPS, and they are deadly on sage rats to past 600 yards. I had, past tense, barrel RIP after less than 800 rounds, not going to re-barrel) an 8 twist 220 Swift AI that pushed them at about 3400. Explosive out to 800, good to 1000.

22 Dasher, Hmmmmm. My 6 Dasher is awesome, makes me think....

Cheers,

Chris

What powder did you use in your 223WSSM? I am using 414 and it is still shooting fine after 659 rounds. Due to the brass cost and extra problems with a case that size, I would go with a 22-250 AI if I replaced this barrel.

I agree, the 22Dasher or 22BR would be a good choice. My 22BRW,long neck dasher) is pushing an 80g SMK to 3300 on 32.5g of Varget.

You might consider a full race 22 PPC chamber. Don't need a .243 neck just skim turn the necks and try some Berger bullets. I shot some Berger 55 grn a couple years ago in my Rail for a .19 agg at 100 yds, awesome. Read my BR cleaning Thread and see if you do still have a barrel left, double and triple clean with Sweets.
