Farley front rest

I am about to buy a front rest for benchrest shooting. The front rest that i am thinking of getting is the farley front rest. I have noticed that farley has changed the shape of the rest wher it holds the 3" bag. The older style had ears that put tension to the bag, but the new style has two cams that tighten toghether on the bag. Do any of you out ther have a new farley rest with the new style front bag? I just want to hear pros and cons of the new style rest. Please PM me your openions on the new style rest. Before i spend 1000 on a rest i want to make shure people out ther have had good experience using this styl of rest. Gabe

I shoot from a Midway rest .....................35 bucks a few years back. Just like this one.

Dont see the hype.

I'm not knocking the Farley, but you should look into the SEB NEO, I got mine over winter and really like it a lot. I played around with the Farley, personally I think the NEO has a smoother feel. Everyone is different though, I would compare the two side by side before dropping the coin on either one.

Gabe, I've has the Farley Coaxial II for about a year and love it. It is very simple to use and is extremely adjustable to fit you and your rifle(s). The ear tensioner works well.

I get no "sag" on the rest, it is rock solid, you don't have to hold the joystick to keep it in place. Lots of up/down travel for shooting angles, is the right height to use with Edgewood or Protector rear bags. I use Edgewoods front and back.

Farleys and SEBs make up 80% of the rests used in F-Open where I shoot.

Gabe ...you will be very happy with a Farley....I use one all the time....however ...if you have a good rest (Hart-Bald Eagle-etc) you can get a Shadetree top for it that is a "joystick" ,,,and they also work great...Roger

Good suggestion. I have 2 of the shadetree tops and they are an excellent option especially if you're watching your pennies and already have a base. Otherwise, a Farley is a great choice if you have the coin to spend. Don't have any 1st hand experience with the Seb but according to everything I hear you can't go wrong there either. Your choice may ultimately be based on availability.

Thanks all for the replys. I will be getting the farley. A friend let me ck a farley to see if i liked it, and yes they are nice a work of art and solid rest. Gabe
