F-open cartridge for lazy people

I chose 7 PRCW. It is the easy button. 7-6.5 PRCW reamer from JGS, 180 berger hybrid, VV555, ADG brass. I chose to turn necks but the easiest is the no turn. Borden, Brux etc. This set up has not been difficult to tune... it does take some tuning time and that process is fun when the results are achieved. Clean 600 - 40x at 600 achieved quickly.

I agree with most of the postings saying a BIG 7 is the best for F-Open. I shoot a 7mm Sherman Short and .300 WSMs. Both are excellent>>>but I am growing weary of fighting recoil and torque. So, If I had to settle on just 1 cartridge / caliber, it would be the 7 Sherman Short. When I first got mine, I had to fireform "unimproved" Sherman brass to the desired 40 degree shoulder. Now Rich has come out with brass that has the 40 degree shoulder. Oh and it is ADG brass which is excellent! I have found 3 powders that work consistently well in the Sherman with 180 / 184 Hybrids. RL23, VV N565 and even H4350. I can't get RL-23 so I tried H4831sc. It "works" but not as well as RL-23. But one that does work is N565. It is a VERY accurate cartridge, easy to load for and is an "improved" cartridge right out of the starting gate. Try it! It is "ready made" for the F-Open shooter.
SD, would you post a picture of the 7 Sherman Short pls?

Really surprised to not see more references to 284Win. Been that way for many years.

Appreciate the graphs showing the growing popularity of the 7-6.5PRC. I didn't realize it had exploded to that level.

In my opinion
Everything new is something old already been wildcatted before.
If we shortened a 284 -0.010 we could market it as the
7mm Whizbang Improved and people would suddenly be all over it
raving about it as the next big thing being more efficient than a standard 284
.........I still agree
284 is the easy button
(Not knocking the other cartirdges in any way though because I am for experimentation and advancement in that field)
But when I look at a 6.5 Creed for instance
For some....odd.....reason, it just looks so much like a necked up 22-250 case blown out

For F open at 600 yards I can list several 6.5 Creedmoor shooters that all shoot: same bullet, same powder, similar jump, same grains within a couple tenths, same MV within 20-30 fps, and one of two primers. I’ve personally had 4 barrels that all tuned more or less identically, even though three different brands. I use a factory Bergara action and stock, HMR Premier w the heavier barrel option. I don’t know how it could be any easier. It’s all fun, and it’s competitive. In good weather it should shoot up to 400 clean with 15-30 Xs, but the 7mm or 30cal will outshine in rough conditions. And maybe go bigger bore at 1000 yds if you want to compete, or shoot the 6.5 if fun is the goal.
New to the Creedmoor loading scene, would you mind sharing that load data either here or in a PM? Thanks
