F-Class FTR .308 (1:12, 1:10, 1:9, 1:9.25) What do you use and why??

I am a newer FTR shooter and looking to up my game from a Savage Model 12 FTR with 1:12 Twist. I was looking at a 1:10 but have now seen some people shooting 1:9 and 1:9.25 for the heavier bullets.

What are you shooting and why?

Savage 1:12 works great with 168 and even 175 grain bullets.
If you are new to the FTR game, I would suggest getting good with 168 grains. By the time you grow over it, you’ll be needing a new barrel and you can move on to a 1:10 that’ll easily shoot the 200 grains bullets.

I don’t shoot FTR, but the majority of rifles and barrels we do at Pierce for FTR are 1-10 twist for 185-200s.

I use a 1-10 because my very first 308 had one and shot fantastic..

Same rifle. The factory 1/12 shot 168's well, but ONLY 168's. I went to 28" 1/10 with 185's. Much better.

Your 1:12 will shoot 185 jugs just fine. I shot them out of a 1:13 twist with no problem.
Replacement- get a 1:10, but shoot your current barrel out first.

If you can find 185 juggs go with that. They shoot very good in a 12 twist.
No need for a 9 twist in TR, 10 twist will do it all.
