F Class caliber

Yep the 7 PRC is borderline too big for F-Open but the 6.5-7 PRC is just right. Or as I call
it the 7 PRCW. I still have my 284 Shehane as a back up and use it from time to time as they are so similar
and use all the same components, its what many call the Easy Button.

Hard to believe, but a case could be made it’s old Winchester cartridges developed for hunting.

Long range F-Class was shot 10 years ago by almost all .284 Win and .308 Win shooters. Now in Open the WSM in both 30 cal and 7mm is doing very well.

Decades before F-Class began, the 300 Win Mag was popular for 1,000, and I’m giving it an effort presently with the latest heavies.

At 600, the .243 Win is becoming my favorite choice. Winchester never focused any of these hunting cartridges on CF target rifles.

Remington’s .223 and Saums were equally focused on hunting, for short, light weight hunting rifles, actually, where the saum has basically gone extinct, but does its best work in the opposite kind of rifle.

Finally, recent cartridges by Hornady that emphasized precision target shooting from their inception, as opposed to hunting, are becoming popular and doing well in F-Class.

If it sticks, they will be like the use of the specialized 6 BR target round and variants in midrange.

Erik Cortina built a rifle around the 7/6.5 PRC that he used to win the F-Class Nationals. He calls it the 7 FCP because an outfit named F-Class Products manufactures the tooling.

Erik Shoots the 7PRCW designed by @Alex Wheeler and it's what he won Southwest Nationals and African Nationals with as well as the World Team Gold with.

7 FCP is used by others and is a good cartridge as well and yes, designed by @Bryan Blake at F Class Products

I believe you are mistaken, Erik has repeatedly said he's running the 7PRCW now and that it performs side by side with his Shehane

Yes as in recoil....The 6.5PRC has the optimum case capacity. The 6.5 PRC is just a hair smaller than the 7 Saum
and in my opinion the perfect cartridge for F-Open. However there is no Brass available on a regular basis for the 7 Saum.....My opinion only and YMMV.
( Also see Alex Wheelers post above on the 7 PRC )
Shoot well my friend.
