Exporting to Canada

I have a friend in Toronto that wants to get into shooting long range for fun. I have a scope that I would like to send him. Does anyone have experience in shipping to Canada?

Canada Post (mail) is one of the worst systems in the world. It is SLOW beyond belief, the tracking ability disappears once it crosses the border. Since it is going to Toronto, Fed Ex or UPS are available (maybe DHL).
The above is based on MY experience. I do not know their (Canada) laws regarding 'firearms related' products if that was what you were really asking.

Unless something has recently changed, you need an export permit to ship it. If you decide to go ahead with the transaction, DO NOT ship UPS. Use the USPS, and list it as a used telescope. Our good neighbors to the north get dinged with outrageous taxes otherwise. The problems are not on the Canadian side of the border, but rather the idiotic laws on the U.S. side!!!

I bought a 36x Luepold used from a guy in the States, shipped it up USPS valued at $100.00 and described as above. Arrived without issue.

I ship alot to Canada and other countries. I shipped 4 used scopes to either Sweden or Norway. My post office said it was fine to ship. I declared what I was shipping and used the USPS. My customers prefer USPS because UPS has some outrageous fees. OUR Country has caused a lot of these shipping problems, not the other countries.

It's a toss-up. I've shipped via USPS Priority International. Delivery… in 4 days, sometimes 2 weeks. No rhyme or reason, just is.
