Export of Projectiles out of USA

There have been stories floating back and forth that you can send up to 1000 projectiles out of the country with out an export permit, then the next one you talk too says no you cant can anyone spread some light on this. Some say they can be sent as a gift we have to have a permit to import this end but thats not a problem its the export side of things thats the fly in the ointment.

Bob,
There is a guy in New York running a import service to Australia called Bonzer Imports and he has a website with the same name. He can access some really cool shooting gear at good prices and if you email him he may be able to assist in answering your question. Otherwise, I believe John Giles at PSECO imports projectiles from the States. He might have an answer.

Moo.

Brownell's published something a couple of months ago. I can't remember which sites I saw it on, but you could try a search here and on BR Central. If I remember right, it was up to 1000 bullets with an export permit.

In the Sinclair 2008-A catalog on page 82 in a banner on top of page IMPORTANT FOR INTERNATIONAL ORDERS Up to 1000 bullets can now be shipped out of the U.S. without an export permit.Ask Sales Reppesentative for details.

But the latest on the site is
The US Customs Service is requiring an export permit for all orders that include bullets, brass, scopes to certain Countries, and gun parts, rifles, actions, triggers, trigger guard assemblies, barrels, stocks, firing pins, firing pin springs, buttplates, etc.) shipping from the United States. We must apply for and receive these export permits through The US Department of State. This takes approximately 6 weeks for approval.

This is the thing but if they can be sent out as a gift i have a good friend over there and she is always asking what she can get me.
Won`t send a new rifle but might get some projectiles getting the permit to import this end is easy freight may be a problem depending on cost 1000 118gr projectiles actually found a box of 95gr sierra Match Kings today and they cost me $53 how much are they over there?

Just another thing if i was to purchase say 500 projectiles and had them delivered to my friend in Texas could they then be sent as a gift. or get 1000 and have them sent 500 at a time as i need them can`t find a price on the 95s but going on the 107s looks like i would save $20 per box after freight.

Sinclair isn't real good at updating their website. The text of that page could be old. You should send them an email to be sure.

BOB

The projectiles would make a terrific little skirted lure.
The brother was telling me last night that when he was leaving Vietnam the other week he got called back coz there was a casing in his pack so he had to empty everything out and find it. He had been to some military range haveing a blast with some of the old chinese weapons SKS etc and an expended case,7.62X39)had ended up in his gear pocket of jeans etc and had just been left and thrown in with washing in bag as they were leaving that afternoon. Anyway they made him find it and confiscated it.
