Import/Export of Rifle

In SA & Namibia the barrel,not the action) is licenced. The barrel normally bears a serial number on which the licence is then granted.

Do rifles / actions in the USA bear a serial number on which an export licence is applied for?

The reason for my request is that if rifles/actions in the USA bear serial numbers, I first need to buy the rifle, wait months over here for a licence, then apply for an import licence and omly thereafter for an export permit. If no serial numbers, I can apply for a licence and import/export licences, thereafter buy a rifle in the USA and then stamp my licence number on the barrel - much easier and I don't have to make an investment months in advance.

Any advise/help will be appreciated.

The action and not the barrel has the serial number on rifles. There are probably some exceptions, but I have not seen a serial number on a rifle barrel.

Some semi-auto pistols have a serial number on both the frame and the barrel.
