Export License?

Do any of you know if a Export License is required for a Stock maker to ship a stock to Canada? I know some rules have changed but am not sure?

I am interested in buying a stock from Tom Meredith. But am not sure what is required. He isn't sure either as he has never done it.

I know Kelblys say its no problem for them but they might have an Export license.

Export of weapons related item are under ITAR purview.
You can go to their website (just Google ITAR) and get the list of restricted items.

Depends; does that Sub come with or without a periscope?

It's a good check for many, because the list has several items that many would not assume are on it.

I found this using google. It appears that no export licence is needed for a rifle stock as long as the value is under $500.00

Nick, Your right. It use to be $100 but was changed to $500 about a year or so ago. I've purchased several from Boyd's and was told that.

All exports from the US require an export license or an applicable exemption or exclusion. Too much effort and too little gain for most individual transactions that might implicate ITAR.

As a stock maker trust me when I say he needs a export license. It can go thru a import/exporter but it will cost you. They (customs) still have some of my stocks that "I was able to ship" because of less than $500 and some other bullshit reasons. Till it was all said and done I had about $3k in it and managed to stay out of prison.

Prophet River out of Alberta says they can do the import through their FFL (Leroy's in Glasgow MT) and their fee is 50 plus shipping . I just find it strange that Tom's price is lower than Kelblys for a stock they make. There is probably a reason though.

If they say they can thats great. I will say I was not shipping to Canada I was shipping to Australia.
