Im guessing factory rifles are alot more accurate than what they use to be. I recently bought a remington 700p .223 1/9 twist. I went with it because it came with a h&s precision stock, aluminum block bedded and a free floated heavy barrel. Almost bought a savage 12 fv. If it came with the h&s stock I would of probably bought it. I think savage does make a 12 series with a h&s stock but its a single shot? I hear lots of great things about savage rifles! Im very pleased with this 700P. Its built like a tank and shoots awesome. With some suggestions I was given from this forum I found that this rifle loves 69g smk's. It will shoot under .5 with them at 100 yards. I had a few 5 shot groups that was pretty much 1 hole. 3 clicks up and alittle more patience and it shoots 1 inch groups at 200 yards. Havent tried shooting groups at 300 yards yet. More been finding out how many clicks up to hit bullseye at 300 yards. 9 clicks I do believe. Factory rifles are plenty accurate for me. I hear savage rifles are even more accurate than remington! I guess that is what target shooters need. I bought mine for everything (hunting, target and plinking). I love the h&s stock. Its dull and heavy duty. Dont have to baby the gun while hunting! Im so happy with this rifle I bought another! Its in .308. No scope yet. Saving for a nightforce. The .223 has a bushnell 4200 elite 4-16x40. I do believe I will be buying a savage in the near future. If EVERYBODY says they are awesome, then they must be! Moral of the story....factory rifles are plenty accurate for the average joe! Funny thing about that.....75% of the people on this forum isnt the average joe! Lots of benchrest guys here from what I see.
