Everything shut down so...

We would normally have Baseball, fishing, shooting, etc going right now. Mainly HS Baseball. But, with everything thing shut down, thought we could either stay at home or see if we could thump some swine. Either way we are not around people. My son Ethan shot a big nasty boar yesterday evening. He hijacked my rifle a few years ago and thinks it’s his now. It’s a model 7 6.5 Creed with a #3 Shilen 8 twist Timney trigger and HS stock. He has no excuses if he misses. Which he doesn’t usually. Load is a 140 Partition 48 grns RL26 CCI SM MAG primers. Blew thru both shoulders of this big boy. Even left a blood trail. Ran about 30-40 yards in some thick stuff. upload_2020-3-21_7-44-6.jpeg

Those pigs have some bad pathogens , hope you use protection when gutting/ butchering.? You might want to load the 100 grain ttsx barnes bullet. They are excellent and always go through at any angle , always exit.

Always liked the partitions. Use 140 gr. ones on a large bear a few decades ago. They work. Just wished they shot with a greater level of hunting accuracy then just "minute of deer".

If they smell, they usually taste like they smell. We don't butcher those. Usually just keep the sows and gilts. I'm surprised we had a blood trail. Most of the time we don't have one. Pigs don't bleed like deer even with exits. This one was dead when we found him, we have had a few rodeos even after waiting awhile before we go after em. He shot one last deer season that went over 300 yrds and he made a double lung shot on the big boy. John Nosler got it right when he came up with the Partition.

Cjames I got bad news for you, It is his rifle, you can even ask his mother. She will tell you just the same as your son. Enjoy watching him shoot it, Its more fun then owning it.

Ya I know. My hunt'n buddy's don't have a problem at all letting me know it's his rifle also. They remind me every single time time that rifle is seen or talked about. "Now who's rifle is it? I just want to make sure we are all clear about who's it is" I hear that about 30 times a year.

My youngest daughter and I went to work on an addition that I had agreed to build for an engineer that lived in a town nearby. That first day we removed a screen room and she helped carry the scrap to the truck. we cashed it in to the recycle place and went an looked for her first rifle. She was a state champion archer so she knew what she wanted and was going to do the picking. We found a slightly used Mark 10 miniaction in 223 and she said that was it. We spent our scrap money and split the difference between us. She still has it to this day. We had a lot of fun shooting at the range over the years.
