European F class championships

We need some proper UK weather
Remember the early days when the Euros were always scheduled for the first weekend in November? I can still remember (doubt I'll ever forget) the Sunday the Teams Matches were abandoned because of >25 mph winds and horizontal / torrential rain.
Todd Hendricks will be be at home in those conditions.

Well, that's Day One over for F-Open. The Harrold / Hendricks / Cortina machine rolls on with great results in the 2+15s at 800/900, but the 2+20 @ 1,000 has seen it wobble a bit. The Championship match aggregate now stands at

1..... Boni Valter (Italy) ........ 250.29v
2 .... Justin Gough (GB) ...... 248.30v
3 ....Domenco Squaratti (Italy) ...... 248.28V
4 .... Kay Sachs (Germany) .............. 248.24v
5 .....Neil Gould (GB) ......................... 247.20v
6 .... Lance Vinall (GB) ....................... 246.24v
7 .... Des Parr (GB) ............................. 246.23v
8 .... Salafia Massimaliono (Italy) ......... 246.22v
9 .... Liam Fenlon (Ireland) ..................... 246.17v
10 ..Norm Harrold (USA) ....................... 245.32v
11 .. John Murphy (Ireland) ................... 245.31v
12... Tod Hendricks (USA) ...................... 245.29v
13 .. Erik Cortina (USA) ........................... 245.28V

Apologies to anyone I've missed as the live results aren't listed in score order until after the final Match 6.

That triple possible by Boni Valter is astonishing. What consistency! - I don't remember ever seeing a perfect Bisley three match score before in any GB-FCA league round or the Euros before.

As is often the case, it's the 2+20 at 1,000 that determines aggregate positions allied to overall consistency across the two days. With only five points across the top 15 or so, there's still everything to play for tomorrow with another 150 points to be shot for.

Scores are being put up live as each match finishes, here:

Tomorrow is forecast as another day as per all this week - hot by our standards and unusually light winds for Bisley, but shifting direction from E (roughly 3 o'clock) to S (6 o'clock) across the morning which may cause a dropped point or two.

Sunday morning's team matches may get something slightly closer to normal Bisley winds - same directions but gusting up to 12 mph by the end of the morning.

Five out of six matches now up on the live results feed, and the aggregate placings reordered:

As expected, it all depends on the final match which should be underway right now, 2+20 at 1,000.

In FTR, home shooters are strong with seven out of the top ten including the top three. In F-Open, Italy's Boni Valter has continued with his superlative performance, still not having dropped a point after five matches, on 400.44v, with fellow countryman Domenico Squaratti three behind, likewise the USA's David Christian in third with fewer Vs.

There are only five points across the top 10 places though, (even fewer in FTR with three points), so there could be upsets until the very last shots go down. In Open, Messrs Harrold, Skogman, Cortina, and Hendricks are lying 6th to 9th on 395s so with half the top ten places at this point, a great showing from the American visitors.

Final scores and places now up. Boni Valter dropped five spoiling his perfect record, but worse letting Doug Skogman past with his 100.7v final score, the only Match 6 (1,000 yard) 'possible'. Both ended on 495, but Doug Skogman is European F-Class champ on Vs (56 vs 50). Erik Cortina also had a great final match (99.4v) and he and David Christian overtook Domenco Squaratti for third and fourth places, dropping the Italian to 5th. Messrs Harrold and Hendricks in 7th and 9th places. Sadly, not one of my fellow countrymen or ladies in the top 10.

We Brits did better in FTR with 1st to 7th places, and FTR winner Arnaud Martin's 491.49v aggregate was not only a large (by this comp's standards) 3 points ahead of second place man Peter Dommett, but would have been a very respectable F-Open score equivalent to 10th place.

Teams tomorrow morning, both full international (8-shooter) class and the four-shooter 'Rutland Matches'.
