Bisley European F-class Championships next week

This year you'll got to see the real Bisley after the 2 previous years of kind conditions and switching..
The windy conditions never let up only changed direction after a few days..
Lots of hidden changes waiting to give out 3's and 2's..
The Americans hung in there very well and 5 in the top 10 in open..
10 in the top 21.
FTR was pretty much the same..
It was great to see you all again..
Great shooting..

So, again Americans showed their class.
Brits won, but they had obvious handicap of practicing regularly at Bisley. South Africans did quite well. Others tried to catch up.
As thought experiment was trying to enumerate reasons why Americans statistically did better than the rest:
1. Better access to long range ranges, relaxed regulations (you can shoot at your own ranch- impossible in Europe). Thus, Americans practice more often than Europeans.
2. More competent gunsmiths, cheaper components. You can cheaper obtain 10 barrels and choose the „hammer” for a big match. In Europe it would cost 3x as much. It’s way easier to build top notch f-class rifle.
3. Developed knowledge sharing culture in f-class community, faster learning curve, more mentors willing to help young shooters.

These are my first thoughts. Congratulations to all participants. I’ ll see you next year at Bisley:).

Was that today John..?
I was sat a few yards away from Dan Bramley watching Norman Harrold and Jason Cohen shooting Wednesday..
Norms gun was hammering until a 3 and some 4's came along..
Those hidden changes were wicked..
Quite unpredictable and unreadable..
When you got caught it was easy to ping pong..
The Americans can shoot..
No doubt about it..
You definitely get more practice and components, barrels etc is was cheaper than here..
A 180gr hybrid is about £1.10 per bullet retail..
Probably $0.60 per bullet in the US.

I'm not sure there is a home advantage when the conditions were like they were...
Very unpredictable and unreadable at times..

Obviously, knowledge of the range is an advantage. If unpredictable weather levels the playing field? Difficult to say.
